What’s in a name?

People at Western Pampanga have a playful sense of humor in naming places. 

Settlers spanning Guagua to Porac were meant to be good-looking. No? Try putting those two together and remove the extremes and you get GuaPo. 

Likewise, cutting a section of ‘Sta. Rita’ gives you StaR. Glam anyone?

We also have a Florida. Look at me now, USA!

Sasmuan used to be called Sexmoan. I wonder what the people there used to do as a hobby.

BacoloR sounds like Bacolod but the people probably wanted the name to sound more vivid. Bad pun intended.

This just goes to show that naming places, things, and people doesn’t have to be boring. It also goes to show that “Sexmoan” should not be used for naming people and things. And places, if you can help it. Depends on where your place is.
